By joining one or more initiatives, and aligning your activities within them, your city can enhance its international visibility and access to partnerships and opportunities to support its transition.
Some of the most relevant initiatives and networks your city can join are listed below:
- Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM), the largest global alliance for city climate leadership across the globe uniting over 13,000 cities and local governments and 100+ supporting partners. The cities and partners of GCoM share a long-term vision of supporting voluntary action to combat climate change and move towards a resilient and low-emission society.
- Cities Race to Zero, the track of Race to Zero for cities only, where cities are uniting to demonstrate their support for inclusive climate action in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
- Cities Race to Resilience, the track of Race to resilience for cities only, where cities across the globe mobilise and commit to prioritising resilience and implementing inclusive and resilient climate action.
- Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA), a collaboration project sponsored by the Urban Sustainability Directors Network of leading global cities working to achieve carbon neutrality in the next 10-20 years
- ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, global city network strengthening action at all levels in support of sustainable urban development. It build connections across levels of government, sectors and stakeholder groups, sparking city-to-city, city-to-region, local-to-global and local-to-national connections.
- C40, a global network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis
