NATURE-BASED INFRASTRUCTURE: How natural infrastructure solutions can address sustainable development challenges and the triple planetary crisis (UNEP)

The study identifies five functions through which NbS can provide benefits with respect to the provision of infrastructure services: 1. “Deliver” infrastructure services directly 2. “Enhance” the delivery of services by built infrastructure 3. “Protect” built infrastructure against the impacts of climate change and natural disasters 4. Provide benefits to “workforces” that contribute to infrastructure functioning 5. Provide “multiple additional benefits” beyond the delivery of infrastructure services.
