Online/face-to-face collaborative workshops to understand the implications of climate change and make action.
Name of Method
Brief description
Climate Fresk is based on cards which each have a phenomenon written on them such as 'rising sea levels', 'melting ice sheet', 'deforestation' and many other, and participants link different cards to each other as causes or consequences.
Climate Fresk has been translated to numerous language and is ran by voluntees across the globe. Once there is a workshop in one's region, participants can sign up.

Resources and Investments
- A workshop can have several participants but this depends on the level of experience of a facilitator. It's recommended to have 15-30 participants per facilitator. Participants can be grouped into smaller groups of six to eight persons.
- Anyone can become a facilitator after at least completing a three-hour training from Climate Fresk.
- There are 42 cards that participants work with.

Step by Step
The aim of the cards in the Climate Fresk is to highlight the causes and consequences of climate change.
1. First there is an ice breaker.
2. Then the cards are distributed so that participants reflect and discuss together the casual links between the different cards. They first look at cards and their causes and consequences, then they start to create a bigger map of the links between many different cards (phenomenon).
- There are 42 cards in the game.
- Participants group cards to convey the possible causes and consequeces of the phenomenon that is on the card.
- To give an example of how it works- A participant has taken the following card: Fossil Fuels. The participant then chooses the Industry card as one of the causes of fossil fuels (other cards they could have chosen: building usage, transportation, armed conflict etc). Finally, the participant chooses CO2 Emissions as one of the consequences of fossil fuels (other cards they could have chosen: aerosols etc). The Industry --> Fossil Fuels --> CO2 Emissions
3. Participants create a collage and personalise it. The aim is for them to take ownership of what they have done and reflect on their learning.
4. Then participants are invited to share their feelings about the findings. They may be asked questions such as "which card made the biggest impression on you?" or "what have you discovered?"
5. Debriefing session where participants discuss about individual and collective solutions for the climate crisis.
